We primarily receive materials from single sources per product type. This eliminates multiple trips from multiple vendors. Along with single sources, we also try to optimize the delivery loads, again to reduce the number of miles used in transportation.

|
As a skylight manufacturer, use our product extensively, maximizing daylighting to interior spaces, thus reducing artificial lighting needs. We have also replaced our interior lighting with high efficiency lighting and motion sensor controls, a measured 21% reduction in kwh to date.

What steps has the company taken to reduce energy consumption of the manufacturing process?
Our warehouses are only heated during the coldest times of the year. We have automated controls on the bay doors which shut off our heating systems we the doors are open. Other standard manufacturing practices such as material yield optimization is closely monitored and maximized delivery schemes are utilized by the shipping department.

What steps has the company taken to reduce solid-waste created from the manufacturing process?
Our products are made from recyclable materials. The scrap material unused in manufacturing is returned to a recycling vendor. Thus we have very little solid waste. Standard paper and cardboard recycling programs are heavily utilized by the clerical and shipping aspect of manufacturing.
