The installed life cycle of gypsum board is the life of the building. It is not subject to deteriation or reduced performance over time, and is not replaced until the building is undergoes additional construction. If damaged, the damaged area can be repaired without replacing the other areas.

National Gypsum has earned several awards for its environmental stewardship, beginning in 2002 with the Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence, presented to the company for its Shippingport, PA plant near Pittsburgh. This plant uses byproduct gypsum from First Energy, located only one mile away. The byproduct gypsum is transported by conveyor to the wallboard plant. With byproduct gypsum forming the core of the wallboard and the face paper made from recycled paper stock, the Shippingport wallboard is a 100 percent recycled product.
